If you had told any Vols fans back in mid July that the Vols would score 44, 34 and 35 points @ Georgia, @ Miss State and @ South Carolina, respectively, we would be thinking that the Vols team would have probably won all of those games. Average of 37.7 points per game.
The Vols haven't scored points like this on SEC defenses in a long time. Even with the Floria and Bama games, this averages to 29.2 points per game for an 0-5 record in the SEC. Frustrating for all.
The absolute achilles heal of this team is the horrid secondary play. Teams are just eating the Vols secondary up. The rest of the Vols team is from an overall SEC talent level perspective, okay to good to very good. In my opinion: Linebackers - okay / good, D-Line - good, Offensive Line - very good, Backs - okay, Receivers - good, and QB - good). Teams don't can't run up the gut on the Vols, they can't sack the Vols and they give up a lot of yards to the Vols offense (if not named Florida or Bama).
Regardless of the coaching situation and what is going to happen, having missed out on bowl games 3 out of the last 7 years, it is important for the Program to get practices and go to a Bowl game (regardless of where the bowl is and regardless of the coaching situation). The Vols are now 26-32 the last 4.5 years of football. Winning 5 straight here helps to get this Program moving in the right direction again regardless of ooaching. That is the way I am looking at this situation these next 4 weeks.
