There seem to be a number of vocal Vols fans indicating they would like to see Coach Dooley fired ASAP. And not all of those advocates for immediate change are the overreacting, headhunting types that cry wolf at the first unfortunate event either.
What I was wondering is this: what benefits and drawbacks do all of you see to letting go of a coach prior to season's end?
I ask because I am of the belief that I would prefer to see the administration pick and make arrangements with a proven head coach prior to terminating CDD's contract. And I don't see much to be gained in the last few games of this season by booting the current coach; if our players aren't consistently performing to meet expectations now, I seriously doubt that would improve with an immediate dismissal of their coach. I can't think of a reason why naming an interim coach for a few games would help either.
But maybe there's something I'm not seeing...so enlighten me as to your opinions and views.
