In the midst of the Dooley firing, the Vols finish play in Puerto Rico in the third place game against UMass.
Tennessee will try to bounce back from Friday's blowout loss to Oklahoma State in the third place game down in Puerto Rico, taking on UMass starting at 4:00 PM ET on ESPNU/3. The Minutemen won a pair of close games - 67-64 over Harvard and 77-75 against Providence on Thursday in Puerto Rico. They were then buzzsawed by #6 NC State 94-76 on Friday.
This is a four man show, or at least has been this far: point guard Chaz Williams averages a 14-4-7 (and five turnovers per game), Jesse Morgan is the leading scorer at 17.3 per game, and Terrell Vinson and Raphiael Putney both average 11 per game. The scoring drops off sharply from there; it's a glorified eight man rotation.
This is a big one for Tennessee; the Vols need to bounce back and don't play again until a week from tomorrow when our thorny friends from Oakland come to Knoxville, so if you don't regain momentum here it's going to be a long eight days. If the three ball is going down today, great. If not, let's see if the offense can get it going.
I'm sure we'll have some Dooley conversation in here too, but this is your open thread for the basketball game. Go Vols.
