The National Signing Day 2012 Rocky Top Talk Podcast
After a month long respite, the Rocky Top Talk Podcast returns tonight to break down National Signing Day 2012. How'd the Vols do? Who are the stars of the class? Did we fill the right needs? How'd we do in relation to the rest of the SEC? Should the other conferences even bother next season? Brad has the answers, and Will's going to get them out of him, so join us tonight at 9:30 ET.

Is it just me
or does our WR corps look pretty frickin’ amazing? We have to have one of the best 1-2-3 punches at WR in the country.
I'd like to echo
the comments of others in commending the NSD coverage here at RTT, thank you Brad and Will. Loved all the preparation you put into it. I visit here every single day, and you all do a wonderful job with Tennessee coverage.
I'm glad we got Peterman
After seeing all the crap that happened with Gunner Kiel, UT made a good choice to recruit Peterman. I wonder with him part of our program, are we gonna have to start making Seinfeld jokes?
Hopefully Peterman doesn't run away to Burma mid-season

So with 4 scollies left
Do we save them to get a decent sized class next year (18 instead of 14) or go after some LBs hardcore (Bynum withstanding)?
I would try to go after one LB
And probably save the rest, man, now we wish Khalid Henderson was still around.
Of course
Who knew Texas would stab us in the back and take Santos, and that Otha Peters would come out of left field to go Woo Pig Sooee instead of Rocky Top. Worse, I read Henderson went to UK, blech.
Dooley...
had done what was exactly the minimum expected, before UK we hadn’t markedly overachieved in a single game.
Not really, I don't think.
They gained steam as the season went on, and Tennessee was better in September than they were in November. If that win happens in November, it’s overachieving, but in September I’m not so sure.
Formerly 'snail. You get used to it after a while.

That sounds right
I do remember some people saying “UT better watch out” and “Cinci is actually pretty good” but the general consensus was that we should beat them by 2 TDs or more, wasn’t it? At least around here…

I was one of the ones worried
but I don’t think it’s fair to say they gained that much steam. Their September and October results were hands down better than their November.
They beat NC State 44-14 in September.
Also, they only allowed 4 TDs twice all season, in a 37-34 win over USF in mid-October and in a 45-23 loss to Tennessee. That offensive performance of ours was really damn impressive in my eyes
If I cared more about my UNC side, I'd call myself "Tar Volon," and that'd be awesome.
Bolts, Canes, Preds (now in different conferences!). Canes mini-STH. Southern hockey solidarity

additionally, we held them to their 3rd lowest point total of the season
the other two (10-3 WVU and 9-4 Rutgers) were the game their QB broke his leg and the week following their QB’s broken leg.

It was impressive...
and had Hunter and Bray stayed healthy, I would have said we could realistically have beaten anyone except Alabama(and possibly Arkansas). We were a totally different team after Hunter went down, and flat out bad with Worley and Simms playing.
agreed on all counts
except I might add LSU. LSU was really damn good

Yeah, they were.
I was at that game. Best I remember, we hung around early, but you just got the impression that they were wearing on us. LSU fans really traveled well for that game, too. There were a ton of them.
"Do the Titans have a miracle left in them in what has been a magical season to this point? If they do, they need it now. Christie kicks it high and short. Gonna be fielded by Lorenzo Neal at the 25; he dishes it back to Wycheck; he throws it across the field to Dyson. 30, 40, 50, 40, 30, 20, 10, 5, endzone...touchdown, Titans! There are no flags on the field! It's a miracle! Tennessee has pulled a miracle! A miracle for the Titans!"

I was there too
GG. Lots of purple around me, and I got the same impression

(future) SEC! SEC!
I’ve never been a fan of Baylor.

SEC! SEC! SEC!
It's Great! To be! A Tennessee Vol!
Folks wanted a villain to blame for UT's troubles...
and Kelly Washington, with his outspoken demeanor, was the convenient scapegoat.
and the leadership question...
Wes is right on, but folks want to believe the problems of whatever team they pull for is thisclose to being fixed. If they believe it’s a leadership issue, they can believe all they need is one guy to step up.
If they believe it’s a talent issue, they know it’s going to be a slog.
...I'm pretty sure you know this
but you’re listening to a November podcast

Haha, I did the same thing at like 9:29
Joined and it started playing a November one… I didn’t notice until they started talking about the upcoming January rematch with Memphis :p

No worries
We started at 9:30 instead of the usual 9:00 tonight – just finished, the new one should upload soon

Dang...
Baylor hits a 3-pointer to take a 1pt lead with 14 seconds left. And fouls A&M on the trip down with a foul to give.
and A&M stupidly...
throws it short with 1.4 seconds left down 3.
Color me unimpressed with their discipline and coaching.
