Okay, we're fixing to play our first real series of the year. While NIU was obviously a D1 team, Seton Hall recruits an entirely different class of players and this will be a huge test for the BaseVols. Last season the Pirates won the Big East conference title and advanced to the NCAA Regionals where they defeated #2 Arizona before dropping the next two to end their season. Their first four this season were in the Big East/Big Ten Challenge where they defeated Northwestern and Penn State and lost to Michigan and Ohio State. Having made the point that they will be a challenge, I still expect Tennessee to take 2 of 3 from the Pirates... we are simply a deeper team at both hitting and pitching, and their Big East tournament title was not indicative of the rest of their season.

That we take this series pretty seriously due to the quality of the opposition. The next “tryout” series I see is vs. UL-Monroe in two weeks.
Figure Steck could easily go 6 or more innings if he does well.

and I'll reiterate my point...
that Todd Raleigh was an absolute disaster for the psyche of his players last season. He was a total taskmaster, but wasn’t successful enough to be respected, so he just came off as a jerk.
Serrano is a teacher, and fairly laid back.
If in no other sport
Baseball is the best place for a laid-back coaching philosophy. Uptight disciplinarians and martinets aren’t gonna motivate anybody in a dugout.

I did nearly the exact same thing once, freaking embarrassing when you are 13… let alone pitching in college.

okay, at first I didn't think that made sense
bunting with runners on first and third and one out in a tie game in the bottom of the ninth lowers your chances of winning by 18%?
But then I saw that they were excluding squeeze plays, which would explain everything that I thought didn’t make sense.

Winning and Losing Pitchers
SECTION 25. a. For all games of eight or more innings, a starting pitcher must
pitch at least five complete innings to receive credit as the winning pitcher.
For all games of fewer than eight innings, the starting pitcher must pitch
