I'm about the biggest Vol Fan on the planet. It's tough to watch (and listen) to the struggles of the current brand of Vol football. Defense - well, it's just not very good. Q'back - not really good either against quality competiton. The playing field is being leveled in respect to teams like Akron and my hat is off to the Zips for sticking it to the Vols in Neyland Stadium. I don't like it, but it's become very routine. But how can a program like Tennessee NOT dominate against an Akron? That I just don't understand. I know lots of good football players come from Ohio but, when it comes to recruiting (as an example), I sure do think Tennessee would offer blue chip players a brighter future than Akron. I'm not a football expert, just an observer. While Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Auburn, and Florida continue to dominate Tennessee, Rocky Top is content with a below average coach. Dooley will struggle through this year, get dismissed and then (I hope) prosper at his next assignment. Maybe I should play a Rip Van Winkle, sleep 20 years and wake up to a Vol revival. Sighh.. another losing season. TN never had two losing seasons in a row in modern times until last year. Does that not flip a light switch somewhere?
