Lady Vols Heading to Super Regional

For the fifth time in the last six seasons, the Lady Vols have reserved a spot in the NCAA Super Regionals after defeating Longwood 3-0, to complete an undefeated run through the Knoxville Regional. SEC Player of the Year, Meghan Gregg, led Tennessee's offense by tying a school record in RBI's, driving in a run in the first inning to put the Lady Vols ahead 1-0. Gregg came through again with a solo HR in the fifth inning, making it her third of the Knoxville regional and her 14th total on the 2017 season. A Brooke Vines RBI in the top of the 7th put the Lady Vols up 3-0, sealing the win.

Starting pitcher, Matty Moss, had a dominating performance in the circle, only allowing 4 hits in the shutout victory, while recording a total of nine strikeouts. Moss also threw her 13th total complete game on the season. The win gives Moss a record of 25-2 thus far in the 2017 campaign.

Tennessee (47-10) will advance to the Super Regionals next weekend, which will again take place at Sheri Parker Lee Stadium in Knoxville. The Lady Vols will face a familiar foe in fellow SEC opponent Texas A&M (45-10), who defeated Texas 3-1 in the College Station Regional on Sunday. Tennessee last played the Aggies in a three game series to conclude the regular season, in which the Lady Vols took 2 out of 3 in College Station.
