We now know the opening spreads for four Tennessee football games this fall.
The Vols, who are entering year two under Jeremy Pruitt, were favorites in just three games in 2018. Thanks to a couple of top 25 upsets, Tennessee found a way to win five games last season, finishing with a 5-7 record.
With an easier schedule on tap, Tennessee should find themselves favored by Vegas in a few more contests this time around. We already know the opening line for the season opener against Georgia State, which placed the Vols as 26 points favorites.
Now we’ve got three more games to examine, thanks to the Westgate Las Vegas Superbook.
BYU at Tennessee (-4)
Tennessee at Florida (-16.5)
Vanderbilt at Tennessee (-7)
The one that stands out is that big line favoring the Florida Gators in The Swamp. Dan Mullen’s second year squad was just picked to finish second in the SEC East.
The spread for the BYU game is also interesting. The Cougars currently sit as just a four point underdog and are expected to be an early test for this young Tennessee team. BYU went 7-6 in 2018, upsetting Wisconsin along the way. They’ll meet Tennessee under the lights at Neyland Stadium on September 7th.
Finally, Tennessee is a seven point favorite against Vanderbilt. The Commodores have beaten the Vols in three straight seasons, including a couple of blowouts.
These spreads are all subject to change, of course, but it does offer a good look at how Vegas values Tennessee heading into the year.
