  • Lofton took sole possession of third place on Senior Day Sunday against . . . South Carolina;
  • needs 17 more threes to move into second place; won't happen this afternoon (or this weekend, more than likely);
  • is averaging 3.42 treys per game this season;
  • whether Lofton can get the record depends on the number of games remaining:

Even if the team makes the SEC and National Championships, Lofton needs to average more threes per game than he is currently averaging, but four per game is really not out of the question for him.

Donovan's comments are intriguing.
He's probably going one of two ways with his statements:
  • He's trying to motivate the players to work harder in the offseason by making them feel ashamed about their lack of progress so far.
  • He's ready to coach elsewhere.
I'm leaning a little more toward the former only because his comments are so inclusive about the freshmen that they're implicitly negative about the development of Calathes.  It might simply be a case of stating something in the simplest manner and assuming that everybody understands the context, though.

I'd say that we'll know if Billy D is on the watch list for coaching changes shortly after UF's tournament games are completely over.  It won't be because UF is running him out, but it might be because he thinks somewhere else truly offers better hope.

Hey, Billy...
I hear the Orlando Magic are hiring. Again.  Oh wait, nevermind.

haaaaaylp
My usual Vol Radio Network internet spot isn't broadcasting the game, and I can't get WIVK to work...anyone know of a station that's actually playing the game that's actually working?

YAHOOSPORTS.COM
And you might be able to actually watch it if you can get your piece of crap computer to not just show a green screen when you try to watch streaming video.  Oh wait, that's mine.

But you can listen to Bob and Bert too.

Go Vols!

Been there, done that...
The VolNetwork has to "purchase" airtime from WIVK, but for whatever reason the VN's rights are only exclusive to radio broadcast; not to internet broadcast.  So don't freak out...it's not your computer.

It's wierd and dumb, but it's the way it is.  Seriously, dump the Left-Coast.  You know you miss home!

I'm going to be in-n-out throughout the game, so this'll help when I'm not near a TV.

Listening via the internet -- I gues Bob and Bert will be my eyes.  I may have to pop out occasionally (to do some actual work)  But should be here for most.

Delay
There is a pretty nasty delay between the audio stream and the live stats.  Kind of makes it weird to see it occur before you hear it...

Nice cover.
Looks like the bench got a fair amount of time.  Is Bruce saving energy to wear them out in the second?

This is frustrating
We are just playing out of control  - Technicals, fouls right and left.

Ugh!

Did Ted Valentine sneak in at halftime?
The T was BS. Jajuan's momentum took him into that guy and he fell over.

Hey!
Good to see you stop by!  I hope you enjoyed the game, even if UK would have preferred the opposite outcome.

Best of luck to you and your team today.

Thanks!
I would be lying if I said that I would have preferred South Carolina knocking the Vols out early, but it was a good game from start to finish.  I would have never expected this to be such a close game.  It truely is tournament time!  (Like the site, by the way!) :)

by kentuckygirl0724 on Mar 14, 2008 3:41 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Nobody here would doubt
that UK fans would have preferred a Gamecock win.  Just like UT fans likely would prefer a UGA win today.  Nothing wrong with truth in fandom.

But it did sound like a heck of a game.  ESPN's gametrack points-by-time scale thingy looks like a vine - no significant advantage after the first few minutes.

And Joel gets all the credit for the site; we're all just taking a ride on the Cadillac that he built.  But he does keep it classy all the time (much like Tru).  Feel free to offer thoughts anytime, and even to get a little UK-UT smacktalk once in a while.

ESPN
"Tennessee hasn't played well in the SEC tournament, and Friday was no exception. The top-seeded Volunteers needed a last-second basket by Tyler Smith to avoid getting upset by South Carolina." -ESPN.com

Actually guys, it was Chris Lofton, with 16 seconds left.  Often I wonder if ESPN actually watches SEC games.

Interesting
Agreed, we played one of the fundamentally worst games of the season, yet we still hung 89 on the opposition.  Had we been "on", I'm certain we'd have eclipsed 120.

Wow
Another gutsy (ballsy?) effort by the men in Orange that worked out in their favor.  CONGRATS!

87 pts allowed -- most allowed in a victory all season -- but we still win by 2.  These boys will have to learn the rule of the gridiron; offense wins games, defense wins championships.  As good as they are, they won't be able to 'outscore' everybody.  However, HUGE props to Wayne who was an absolute MONSTER on D today (7 blocks, what?!)!
