How should playing time split between Foster, Hardesty, Creer?

Personally I think it will start about 60-25-15, but by the end of the year should be about 45-30-25.  If the spread Clawfense does what it's supposed to do, then you'd have to think Clawson would want his homerun threat (Creer) on the field a lot.  It would be good to get Poole some carries too, as he'll need to see significant minutes next year.  Just one more thing, where is the next Jamal Lewis and why haven't we signed him yet?

Vols vs Buckeyes

Hey all new here but I've been a Vol Fan for ever. Had to join to respond to the OSU nut that wants to know when Tennessee has won anything.  Wish them Buckeyes were in the SEC then Vandy could get at least one conference win.  Only good team in tha conference is Mich.  At least they not crybabies wanting to carry thier owm officals to games like OSU.  Come on up to the Big House OSU and see what Football is all about.

Juanny, Lofton Updated: NBA Edition!

With Vol football taking center stage this summer, and deservedly so, I thought I update everyone on some BasketVols trying to prolong their playing careers.

Chris is currently playing in the NBA Summer League for my Denver Nuggets.  He got some floor time Monday and proceeded to do what Chris Lofton does, make threes, well one of them at least, he only played 8 minutes against Toronto.  Considering the Nuggets complete lack of outside shooting, Lofton could find a niche on the team as a three point specialist.  He has three more games to make an impression.

Meanwhile, JaJuan Smith is working on increasing his chances of a contract offer from the Dallas Mavericks with a 19 point explosion on Monday.  Juanny put on a three point shooting clinic hitting 4 of 6 and leading all scorers.  He teamed up with former Vandy star Shan Foster, who had 17 points himself, to lead the Mavs to victory over Minnesota.  JaJuan is averaging nearly 9 points a game while only averaging 10 minutes on the floor, very efficient.  The Mavs have 2 more games and hopefully JaJuan can find himself a roster spot come training camp.

I'll keep track of these former Vols and see if they can land somewhere in the league.  I'll keep my fingers crossed.

ESPN ranks Vols top 10 in recruiting

Yeah, it's waaay too early to get worked up about this, as very few teams have many verbals yet.  But I gleaned a couple nice things out of it:

Are the Volunteers on their way back? Early indications are the addition of new offensive wiz David Clawson has proved to be pivotal on the recruiting trail with offensive skill players and quarterbacks jumping on board early, with the likes of QB Josh Nunes (Upland, Calif.) and RB Jarvis Giles (Tampa, Fla./Gaither). The surprising contract extension of Phil Fulmer won't hurt down the road either.

Offensive Whiz?  I like the sound of that.  If ESPN is complimentary toward a UT staff guy, then he must be pretty good.  However, I don't know what they find so surprising about Fulmer's extension.  Isn't that what UT does?

Other than that, it's interesting that the Vols were listed with only 11 recruits.  Most of the top 10 had more, and I'd bet that many below the top 10 had more as well.  There's still a lot of room to fill out the class, but this speaks highly of the perceived quality of the current commitments.

ESPN's Chat with Dave Clawson....

Link is here

Some choice quotes...

How much different to the longtime Tennessee fan will this offense look?

Dave Clawson: Some of the plays won't look that much different. The way we look and the formations we line up in may look different. David Cutcliffe did a lot of good things here. One of the reasons I got the job is that my philosophy is not that much different from what they did under coach Cutcliffe.

What did you see out of junior quarterback Jonathan Crompton in the spring?

DC: He's a tough kid who works hard and seems to pick things up pretty quickly. The thing he needs to work on is his consistency with decision-making. It's one thing to be a backup quarterback and play 10 or 12 plays and be good. Now he's in a situation where you have to go out there for 12 weeks and make 80 good decisions and make enough of those good decisions that we're hopefully playing for 13 and 14 weeks."

Aerobab Chronicles: Week 1

First things first...I am alive!  Not sure how, but I am!

Week 1 is complete and boy, was it a rollercoaster!  The "indoctrination to the military" week here at OTS would straight up kill the common man.  Wake up at 0445 (yes, I've learned the 24-hr clock now), get yelled at, eat a sub 3-min. breakfast, get yelled at, march around, get yelled at, sit through numerous 'welcome' lectures, forced to memorize numerous tidbits of info, get yelled at for not remembering the tidbits, ... well, you get the idea.  Oh, did I mention that lights-out is at 2300 and then having another 2 hours of work to do?  Yep...so sleep from 0100 to 0445.  You do the math...my brain is shot.

As odd as it sounds, I'm loving every minute of it.  No, seriously, I am.  Even the yelling part.  It's amazing to think that less than 700 of America's finest graduate from this program annually....and I'm one of them.  Right now, I'm working side by side with 1/7 of them.  Each, with very unique stories about how they got here.

Anyways, I'm tired, loopy and ready for dinner.  "That will be all, Sir."

Temporary Farewell, Big Orange Country!

Chest bumped to the front. We'll miss you, Aerobab.

-- Joel

A very short eight weeks ago, I revealed a mystery in the fact that I had achieved a career-goal, having been selected to join the U.S. Air Force as an Officer Trainee!  I'll be heading down to enemy territory in Montgomery, AL this coming Monday and will start Basic Officer Training on Tuesday.  While I can not be any more excited about the next 12 grueling weeks of military training in the southern Alabama sun (yay, humidity!), I'm certainly going to miss all of the daily banter and chit-chat that goes on at this site.  (Apologies for not contributing to much this past week -- been kinda busy.)  I likely won't have much (if any) "outside" web access during my training, so I hope to have LOTS of catching up later this fall!

I'm slated to graduated Sept. 24...a mere 3 days prior to the game @ Auburn.  Depending on my orders that I receive, I'm going to try like heck to make that road game.  I'd love to meet up with any of you if you'll be down/up/over that way!  My email, if not posted on my profile thingy is aerobab [at] gmail.com.  Feel free to drop me a line and I'll write you back when able.  Have a great summer/fall, y'all!  Oh, and one more thing...please, please, PLEASE put up a win vs. Super Tebow!  That's all I ask of you!

Go Vols!
