More about the blogger awards

Brian and I had an extended chat last night working through some of the blogger award issues. It was very productive, but between that, the Tennessee-Memphis game, and the killer cold/cough still hanging on, I'm probably not going to get the announcement of the award categories done today.

Expect it tomorrow, absent some SNAFU or other issues that arise while the list is being compiled. It's not too late to leave your ideas, comments, and/or suggestions below.

Any additional ideas on how to set up the award categories in order to spread the love would be appreciated. Absent any other ideas, it's looking like we'll be monitoring the nomination/vote results and using a committee to adjust any wonky results. If you have a better idea, leave it below.

Also, we're still not married to the notion of having the event name include the word "BlogPoll." I still think it's a good idea, but leave your competing thoughts below. I won't lash out.

Blogpoll name

How about the BCS...Blog Championship Series in honor of your favorite objective system.
It does contain the famous voting portion, but you'll have to come up with a Jeff Sagarin computer component.

I suggested Blog Championship Series too. Or if you're insistent on having "Blogpoll" in it, call it the Blogpoll Championship Series.

are you 'branding' or not

Are you planning on keeping things centered around the concept of "Blogpoll", then keep the name. If you want the awards to be completely separated from the poll, then don't.

Y'all are worried about the top four blogs getting all of the awards. I find that ironic in the fact that bloggers are notorious for posting some of the biggest flame-baiting items on the Internet, but NOW you're being sensitive?

Little too late for that, eh?

Get on with it. Like any other group of awards, it'll get modified over next year and the year after.

There's a Randy Moss return man reward this year. What dumbass came up with that name, I don't know, but it shouldn't last more than a year.
