Tennessee players and fans starving for offense binge for three quarters

Tennessee players and fans have been starving for offense, not just since the end of last season, but since the end of the season before that.  Tonight, the all-you-can-eat buffet opened, and the Vols went on an all-out binge.  They gorged themselves so much that after three quarters, all they could do is waddle to the sofa, fall into the cushions, and unbutton their britches.  They remained in that position for the rest of the game, but they had already been satisfied.

Just got back from K-Town.  It's late, and I've church in the morning.  Breakdown of the game should begin early tomorrow afternoon.

Go Vols!

Oh So Bold Mr. Bold....
Ugh...dredging-up that thinly veiled anti Pac-10 garbage this early in the season is, I must say, pathetic. Let's give it a few games. Or, maybe a few seasons in which a Pac-10 team is not featured in the national championship and then trash talk. Heck, why not skip the trash talk altogether? What a concept!

As the fan of a Pac-10 team, it amazes me how much people talk about how much better their conference is than the Pac-10. Guess what, we don't care about your conferences. We don't talk about your conferences like you talk about ours. And, guess what else? When Pac-10 teams play out of conference, I root against other Pac-10 teams becuase they are my team's rivals. I really don't give a flying leap about conference rivalries. I love to see USC lose no matter who they play. I think people use this "my conference is better than your conference" thing to explain their own team's shortcomings. e.g. - ("If my team played in that conference, we'd be undefeated.").

Such rationlization...

It's kind of like living here in Texas. Texas people are so Texas proud. They always go out of their way to tell me how great Texas is when I tell them I'm from California. I think the term is "chip on...shoulder". When I meet someone that tells me they are from Texas, I say, "Nice to meet you.", not, "Well, let me tell you how great CA is."

When I meet a UT (either one) fan, I don't reply with, "Well let me tell you why the Pac-10 is so great because so and so beat so and so." Geeez...Let's give it a rest.

News flash, UT beat Cal badly. Right now, UT is the better team. Period. End of story. This really has really has no bearing on the conferences. If you really want to compare schools and conferences, go check out http://nacda.cstv.com/directorscup/nacda-directorscup-previous-scoring.html . It will give you an idea of how schools compare in athletics overall.

Phew. Sorry for the rant. I really had to get that off my checst....
