Bile! Memories of Penn State's Tony Hunt
The Volunteer defense has been motivated this off season by the post-Outback Bowl comments of Penn State tailback Tony Hunt. Just thought I'd help out a little bit in this regard:
That is really, really irritating, primarily because it's true and because it was said of a John Chavis defense, one that is traditionally characterized by its ability to stop the run. We won't get another crack at Penn State or Tony Hunt this season, but here's to hoping that they play that video before every game and that all post-game comments about toughness are made by players in orange and white.

Ugh.
Ugh.
PSU got their gift with 10:01 left in the 4th quarter. They would hold onto the ball for 7:54 of that. I do think his "I don't think they wanted to tackle me" remark was a bit arrogant, as I'm pretty sure the UT defenders wanted to; but just couldn't. Mr. Hunt, you had 10 other guys out there helping you do what you did. Man up, and share your individual success with the successful work of your teammates. The PSU guys got the dreaded "mo" swing in their favor after that fumble. Some things you just can't recover from.
Also, Joel, with respect to "We won't get another crack at Penn State or Tony Hunt this season...", there's always the possibility of another bowl match up. Especially if it's for the MNC in 'Nawlins 1/7/08!

I'll second your plan for the MNC matchup. I'd also love to see a reg. season series. Two huge and (hmm what's the word here? Insane? Passionate?) passionate fan bases, two incredible stadiums, and two teams with a history of run it down your throat play. It just might be more fun for the fans than the Coastal Carolinas et al that we're scheduling now.
