What was the biggest question going into the 2007 Tennessee Volunteer football season? Wide receivers. Gone were Robert Meachem, Jayson Swain, and Bret Smith. Taking their place were . . . well, we didn't really know who would take their place.
Then, just before the first game, tight end Brad Cottam, the player with the most experience catching passes, went down with a significant wrist injury and would be out for most of the season. All we knew about the true receivers going into the first game against Cal was this:
Out of that group, Taylor would prove to be the star. He caught six balls for 103 yards in the first game and never really looked back. Over the course of the season, Taylor had four 100+ yard games, including a 186-yarder against Mississippi State. He scored five touchdowns as a receiver and threw a 56-yard, game-breaking touchdown pass to LaMarcus Coker against Georgia. Woo for Lucas!
