Yikes - lots to read
"The game is considered one of the biggest sporting events in Memphis history, ranking up there with the heavyweight fight between Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis, the 1982 Liberty Bowl which featured Bear Bryant's last game as Alabama's coach and a recent PGA Championship." - Scout.com

So, this is saying that it took Pearl only 3 years to create as much draw and interest as Bryant needed a lifetime to accomplish?  And that from a football school?

"You don't try out new shoes for the biggest game in your school's history." - Joel

If I gambled, that would be enough for me to decide where to put my money.  The shoes aren't likely to be much different than the previous ones.  Actually, the difference is probably only cosmetic.  The problem will be the psychological part; it's not as if the players needed anything more to think about.

Lofton's got a history with shoes
It's true:
Lofton has switched out of the 2006 Piranhas before, swapping out last season after suffering an ankle injury against South Carolina.

"I thought they were bad luck,'' Lofton said at the time.

After going through three or four models of adidas shoes toward the end of the season, Lofton went back to the Piranhas once more.

Earlier this year, adidas introduced an update version of Piranhas, but Lofton said they hurt his feet, so it was back to the old kicks.

Go Vols!
