Well...

As I tell everyone, I went to college at Tennessee ... I went to "Trade School" at UNC. That always ticks the Tarheels off.

I would probably like them a little more but for their fans. I think the university is a great place -- I got a wonderful education. I just don't like their fans.

I live 5 miles from NC State, 15 miles from Dook, and UNC is another 9 past that. The Dook fans are annoying, arrogant, and elitist ... but they will freely admit that they are that way, so I can live with it. UNC fans are so elitist that they refuse to acknowledge they are that way...

I admit it, I pulled for several teams in the Dean Dome while I was a student there.

MM on Demand

Hey, all. This is my first time since last year using the MMOD thing. With them having cut away from the North Carolina game, and me fearing they'll do the same for the Vols game, I have it running now. Problem is, the picture is just jumping from frame to frame.

Oh, and now that I'm typing that . . . it's fixed. Is this an intermittent problem anyone else has been having?

It's a problem on their end.

It's the big problem with mass internet streaming feeds. The whole concept is a retrofit onto a data-pushing system. Cable was built specifically for streaming, while internet was not. It's a work in progress.

What ticks me off...

I don't have the MMOD, but our CBS affiliate has something like 6 different cable channels they are using to show all the games at all times. Despite that, with CBS' infernal belief that viewers aren't smart enough to figure out which game they actually want to watch, often they will cut away to the game they think is most important and all 6 channels will be simultaneously showing the same thing...

I watched most of the first 2 games on it. I keep it running on my laptop and watch the TV. MMOD is about 20 seconds behind so you won't miss anything if you have to switch over.

I don't remember the scenario at all, but he hit a big shot in the tourney, and I think the New Orleans Hornets had like the top NBA draft pick. that they play a great game. I don't want them to end on a disjointed effort. They're going to really have to work to make things work out. Win or lose, I just want a high note for them to end on.

Thoughts:

We're still in this.

We sure used a lot of players I didn't expect to see so much of. Why? Some diabolical plan that we'll see the benefits of in the second half?

Whatever happened to Chris Lofton the "nation's best contested shooter?" He's only taking open shots now, and we may need him to take some contested ones.

Wheezy needs to hit his obligatory three. Perhaps that will make rebounding easier.

Our point guard only needs to do one thing. Protect the ball. Ramar can drive some, but Jordan can probably get that job done.

We've finally met a team that can stop Tyler Smith in the paint. If we anticipate that, we should be able to rebound his misses better.

Didn't we play multiple bigs at the same time with some success against Butler? Would that work here, if rebounding is the key?

Good question

I think it's safe to say that the point guard experiment failed. That's not to say it wasn't better than what we had been doing before, but it didn't work. Too bad you can't play it both ways and see what happens, then do it for real.

Just wasn't your night. Seemed like UL could do no wrong. I'd say some questionable officiating, but probably not enough to drastically alter the game. I think we lost all phases of the game

Offense, Defense, and Coaching. I can't lay any blame on the officials.

Congrats to Louisville

While the Vols played FAR from their potential (once again), the better team won tonight. As I noted multiple times tonight, UL's defense was awesome. Held us to -20 ppg from our season average, and I'd guess our season low.

It's been a heck of a season and the Vols have much to be proud of. More thoughts in the coming days.

Well, it was one heck of a ride this season...

Really sad to see it end, but I knew tonight would be a challenge.

Hats off to Coach Pearl and all the BasketVols -- especially the Seniors -- you will be missed.

On another note, I didn't get to see the last 2 minutes of the game, I think I'll post the letter I write to them over on Gate 21.

Ramar went 1 for 2 with 1 turnover. He made a circus shot layup. So you really didn't miss much. Pretty much the same as the other 38 minutes.
