Go Lady Vols!
I don't know how much I'll be able to post, but I'll try to keep up.

No way!
Ladyvawls post!  Bless your heart.

by Holly on Mar 30, 2008 8:57 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

If anyone's watching...
did you hear what Geno said he "wasn't taking questions" about?

by Holly on Mar 30, 2008 9:22 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

No to both.
I don't get cable, and I didn't hear.

What'd he say?

by hooper on Mar 30, 2008 9:39 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I don't know
I just caught the end of it, but be glad you're without visual...Pam Ward looks like Steven Tyler tonight. Not in a good way.

by Holly on Mar 30, 2008 9:48 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Ouch
No visual, but visually-minded.  That'll be nightmare fuel tonight.  8-0

by hooper on Mar 30, 2008 10:01 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

The Ladyvawls are 3-16
and down by just 4? That'll turn fast.

by jebushchrist on Mar 30, 2008 10:14 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

in reference to their game earlier this season
"if you take away the 11 3's, it was a lot closer game..."

This is true. It means nothing, but it's very true.

by jebushchrist on Mar 30, 2008 10:17 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

AWWWWWWWWWWWW
Pat voted for Geno for COTY!  KISS AND MAKE UP, you crazy kids!  We miss our series.

by Holly on Mar 30, 2008 10:25 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Hmm.
Down by 2 at halftime.

How's it looking?

by hooper on Mar 30, 2008 10:46 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Sleepwalky
Like we're just figuring out we still have to play ND to get by them.

by Holly on Mar 30, 2008 10:54 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Those fouls come in spurts, don't they?
I've got GameCast running and check it occasionally.  It seems to jump by 3s and 4s.

by hooper on Mar 30, 2008 11:03 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Wow.
I wonder what Pat said at halftime.  They're beginning to run away with things, it seems.

Right now, I show 2nd half scoring at 16-4 in favor of UT.

by hooper on Mar 30, 2008 11:12 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Let's get real here.
She bit the head off something (raccoon?).  You know it.  I know it.  And that's why we love her the most.

by Holly on Mar 30, 2008 11:14 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

You're right, I'm sure.
She probably ate the same raccoon that was on her porch, then told Parker that a sore shoulder was no excuse.  After all, she caught that raccoon while hers was still dislocated...

by hooper on Mar 30, 2008 11:16 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Parker has a double-double that I know of.
11 rebounds and 26 points.  I don't know how many assists, though.

by hooper on Mar 30, 2008 11:14 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Not too many assists
unless self-assists count!  She's the primary point producer tonight.

by Aerobab on Mar 30, 2008 11:19 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Oh my god we just went sideways.
Uttered by actual, paid WWL employee on live air:

"If Candace Parker were a dog, she'd be Best In Show.  ALL THE TIME."

And introducing Will Ferrell as Pam Ward.

by Holly on Mar 30, 2008 11:16 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

No wonder Women's Sports have such a hard time
getting any respect.

Call up Westminster!  The next grand champion, um, dame is in town!

Yeesh.  (rolls eyes)

by hooper on Mar 30, 2008 11:18 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Sadly
This is not the first time she's said that. She said that on at least one other occasion, while making my Iowa games unlistenable (and they're already unwatchable). She said it about Mike Humpal this football season.
It's Pam's catchphrase.

by jebushchrist on Mar 30, 2008 11:45 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

See, that's even worse.
Because not only did she COME UP WITH THAT, she thinks it's funny enough to repeat.

by Holly on Mar 30, 2008 11:47 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Pam Ward sets women's sports back decades
just by being a terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad football announcer.  Women's basketball has it hard enough!

by Holly on Mar 30, 2008 11:23 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Hey, it's not like any other announcer
is any good in basketball.  I'm still mad at last year's champ game b/w Florida and OSU when the announcers spent so much time slobbering over Oden that they had no idea why a Florida guy won MVP honors.

Um, gee, it couldn't be because Florida blew OSU out of the water, could it?

So, yeah, the bar isn't exactly high.

by hooper on Mar 30, 2008 11:26 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I'VE GOT IT
She can do golf!  Her soporific tone, the slow pace of action that will allow producers to actually feed her correct data?  Perfect match!

by Holly on Mar 30, 2008 11:29 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Perfect
And since you never see the golf announcers, your S. Tyler problem is fixed.

Besides, does anybody actually watch golf?

by hooper on Mar 30, 2008 11:31 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I will confess
to napping in front of my dad's hyuuge flatscreen when I'm home in the summer, just because all that green is so soothing, but I can't ever remember watching a minute of an actual game (match?).

by Holly on Mar 30, 2008 11:36 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

BTW, that's one of my favorite children's books
and one of my wife's favorites.

(Alexander's Terrible, Horrible, No-Good, Very Bad Day.)

Nice touch.  :)

"I went to sleep with gum in my mouth"
"and now there's gum in my hair."  Well, that explains a lot.

P.S.  In actual basketball news, Parker with 34 points!  Career high, I think.

by Holly on Mar 30, 2008 11:39 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

A career high
certainly couldn't hurt contract negotiations in LA.

by hooper on Mar 30, 2008 11:42 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

yes plz
I live three minutes from the Staples Center, and I'd actually go to games if they brought her out here.

by Holly on Mar 30, 2008 11:46 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Don't worry; it's a done deal.
If LA didn't take her, they might as well fold the franchise.

by hooper on Mar 30, 2008 11:47 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

So I hear
I've never been to a single game, so I don't know what attendance is like, but it can't hurt.

And that'll do it.  Candace's postgame interview is cute as a button.

by Holly on Mar 30, 2008 11:49 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

D'ya think the sponsors
are getting impatient for her to end her college career?  Parker's gorgeosity in LA as perhaps the best women's player in the biz?

by hooper on Mar 30, 2008 11:51 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Hell, I'M impatient
We're sooo going to be besties.

Joel, thanks for throwing the thread up, even though it was a quiet one.

by Holly on Mar 30, 2008 11:53 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Take care,
and enjoy your new superstar.

by hooper on Mar 30, 2008 11:55 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Well, thanks for the chat.
I've been a fan of the Lady Vols for longer than I've been a fan of basketball in general, so it's nice to have some discussion during a game.

Take care, and goodnight.
