Rocky Top Talk ESPN Tournament Challenge now open

Update [2008-3-18 16:35:4 by Jackson the Mule]: Bumped to the top to remind folks to sign up and make their picks if they haven't already done so.

The Rocky Top Talk ESPN Tournament Challenge is all set up and waiting for you. Yes, you. Click. Join. Live.

  1. Go to the ESPN Men's Tournament Challenge front page and either login to your ESPN.com account or sign up for a new account. (I had problems with the login boxes in the middle of the page, but the ones at the top right corner worked just fine.)
  2. Once logged in, you should be taken back to the Tournament Challenge front page. If not, go there.
  3. Click the Create Entry button.
  4. On the following page, name your entry and click Submit Entry Settings. That should take you to your "My Bracket" tab. Just under your entry, there should be a link entitled Create or Join a Group. Click on that there thing. If you don't see it, clicking here should take you to the same place.
  5. On the following page, type Rocky Top Talk in the search box in the middle of the page. Find it and click it, or you can just click here.
  6. Click Join this Group.
  7. Study up, because Jackson the Mule is going to make you look foolish this March.

Compared to Jackson's ever-seeing eyes,
we're all playing for second place.

Not Me
Hey, you old mule!  You know that stuff that you dream about that makes you wake up crying like a schoolgirl?  That's me, when it comes to tournament brackets...only a thousand times worse.

"Jackson's Nightmare Fuel"; Coming 3/18/08.

Say your prayers, because the Reaper's making a visit to Jonesborough.

Used to pic em
My first few years of playing I did a lot better than I have the last four or five years. I got analytical. Meaning, I shouldn't be analytical.

I'm going back to the old way - guessing.

Straight up guessing is risky business
The cuter/more adorable team mascot is certainly the way to go.

My favorite method
is to find a girl that's absolutely clueless about b-ball and let them fill out the bracket.  They usually pick by the school names that sound good and I've seen some scary good results.  I know one who picked two separate first-round upsets of #2 seeds.

It never works for the clueless guys, though, so that's an important thing to keep in mind when finding that clueless heap of guessing gold.

Favorite Method Cont...
LOL - That gives me an idea. I'm going to utilize a physic friend this year, Madam Zubu. In addition to telling us about the future, Madam Zubu owns a dry cleaning service.

She should do rather nicely in keeping with your theory.

Cool
Let me know how it works.

BTW (and I'm not being picky about a typo), I know you mean "psychic", but the thought of a "physic" named Madam Zubu is utterly hilarious.

:)

Haven't signed up yet.
(Some hoser has my username.  Dangit.)

But I did have a question while I ponder my identity crisis.  When is the bracket set?

I know it sounds like a dumb question to ask, but you have to remember that I never followed b-ball before this year.  It's all new to me.

Big Party
Selection Sunday -- yes, it has a name -- is this weekend. Big bracket selection coverage, complete with shots of morose guys in suits announcing teams and quick cuts to the team sitting in front of a t.v. getting all excited and stuff.

Oh, and get a VIP pass -- it's critical for the first weekend when there are multiple games on during the day.

Hee, hee, hee haw-haw.

I'm in...
I'm in, but all of my selections will be made by Eliot Spitzer, since he has some time on his hands before going down to Bama to start his new job.

That's not cheating is it?

Locked?
I tried to join, but it appears locked.  It's cool though, Because my bracket was chosen by trying to input all of my information with my elbows.

hooves
Yeah, well try typing with hooves.

The game is "locked," which is supposed to prevent participants from swapping out better entries for worse entries, but it should only lock after the games start, and it shouldn't keep you from joining the group.

Is anyone else having similar problems?

Hee, hee, hee haw-haw.

Say goodbye to UT's chances.
Chris Lofton is on the cover of SI.  We're officially doomed.
