IT'S OFFICIAL: SCOTTY HOPSON COMMITS TO THE TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERS

We got ourselves a McDonald's All-American. From GVX:

Scotty Hopson of Hopkinsville, Ky., committed to Tennessee on Tuesday after making his official visit.

The 6-foot-5 Hopson has established himself as the best shooter in the state of Kentucky.

Hopson has been named a McDonald's All-American and is the No. 9-ranked player in the nation according to Rivals.com.

A 6'5" shooting guard? This is huge. More later.

Excellent news....
...but does this open up another 4 years of "snubbed by UK and Louisville", or did Hobson do the snubbing this time?

Can he bring it up?
This better not be an April Fools joke...

Yeah, that would
really stink.  April Fool's jokes are amongst friends, not strangers.

On a non-Apr. 1 note:
Next year's team is going to be much bigger than this year's team.  Adding a 6'-5" guard, a 6'-8" forward, and a 7'-0" center (7 ft. in high school?!?) will cast some long shadows on campus.

The only question I have is whether this newfound prestige will be the end of the Scrappy Days, where Bradshaw and Lofton reign as fan-favorite underdogs.  There's something fun about watching guys compete against more highly-touted talent and succeed the way they did.  We'll see.

alleycats vs. fatcats
Good point.  They don't get much scrappier than Jajuan.  I will sure miss him.  I guess my hope is that these new guys can be tall, talented, and scrappy all at the same time (sort of like tyler smith).

Alleycats I like.  Fatcats, not so much.

Exactly.
We're getting players that don't have toprove their talent.  I just hope they play like they do have to prove their talent.
