It would be a shame, though, if Tennessee ignored the need to season the mix with some pragmatism. Black cat, white cat ... Leach still catches mice, and if Tennessee doesn't nab him this year, someone else eventually will. Winning is a fundamental that never goes out of style, and one that wins over even the most hardened skeptic.

We are not a "Team" right now.

I read a post on VolQuest this morning that I found intriguing:  http://tennessee.rivals.com/showmsg.asp?Style=2&SID=879&fid=2251&tid=119987296

A poster there named, "kb11" made a post that caught my attention.  The subject was on pulling Stephens for Crompton, and how that made the user feel about CPF's coaching ability.

The comment was:

It's just completely shows how removed he is from his team. To be playing two guys at the same time that will not even acknowledge each other (Crompton and Foster) speaks volumes. Fulmer should've been fired on the sideline. He's a complete joke.

Is this the situation between Crompton and Foster?  Man that's bad.  When I saw Crompton go in the game, I knew, just knew that we werent going to win the game, and that we wouldn't even have a chance to win.  These two players aren't even acknowledging each other?  And you put them in the game at the same time?  What happened to team chemistry?  Is that not important anymore?

Tennessee Football right now is the punchline to a national joke, and it's humiliating.  There is nothing about this group of players in knoxville that to me says "Team".  We are not a team, we are a joke.

Players are laughing on the sideline during humiliating losses after personal acheivements.  That's not what a "team" does.  Players are getting penalties (2 offsides on special teams) and showing lack of discipline.

The only thing that helped me get through yesterday was Georgia's loss, and commiserating with their fans about our respective situations.

Tennessee is failing in the most basic aspects of the game:  Running, throwing, catching, blocking and tackling.  None of these are our strong suits.  I tend to think most of the players have quit on their coach.

Where is Brandon Warren?

Brandon Warren is like a ghost in our offense right now.   Where is the guy we worked so hard to get into school at Knoxville?  Where is the guy who was a freshman All American at FSU?  Why can't we get him the ball?  These are just a few questions that I have, and I know many others do as well.  One reason I have heard given was that Warren was having a hard time picking up the offense.   My response to that is when you have a guy with that much talent, can't you just tell him to run out and get open?  Can't you find some way to incorporate him into the offense?

This is a baffling aspect to Tennessee's 2008 season to me.  His cumulative stat total in six games is as follows:

Brandon Warren -   6  games played, 5 receptions for 65 yards. That's a 13.0 avg per catch, and a 10.8 avg per game.  This is deceiving because one of his five receptions went for 42 yards.  He also has two kick returns for 34 yards.

Why did we work so hard to get this guy into school if we aren't going to use him?  I don't know, is this bothering anyone else?
