  • Quarterback Erik Ainge has been named the Walter Camp Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against Georgia on Saturday.  He's also a candidate for the Cingular All-America Player of the Week.  To vote for Ainge, tex message "VOTE" to "87654" on your wireless phone.  Voting closes at 11:59 p.m. EST on Wednesday.  The winner is announced during ESPN's Thursday night college football game.
  • The Vols are Nos. 8 and 9 respectively in the latest AP and USA Today polls.  College Football News has them at No. 3, behind Florida and Ohio State.  Coach Fulmer couldn't care less:

We've made a commitment as a football team and as a staff that we're going to work like heck to improve every week regardless of what people say about us or think about us or where we're ranked.  It's been a fun group of guys, and I'm not one bit concerned about any kind of rankings. All I'm concerned about is my team getting better and getting ready for Alabama.

  • Fulmer broke down Georgia's kick return for a touchdown by saying:
The kick wasn't as good as it should have been to start with ... where we wanted it," Fulmer said. "Our coverage favored one side way too much, and then we had a person in position to make the tackle and he missed the tackle. Then we had both of our safeties converge to make the tackle, and they both melted. That's a bad combination of things to happen.
