Just a few quick notes about the Vols' upcoming opponent this Saturday.
- Statistically speaking, the LSU Tigers are the best team in the SEC. Offensively, they are first in the SEC in scoring with a 35.88 average. They are first in the SEC in total offense, with 414.75 yards per game. QB JaMarcus Russell is first in the SEC and fourth in the nation with a 174.58 passing efficiency rating, going 135 of 193 for 1,910 yards and 15 touchdowns.
And that's just the offense. On defense, they're first in the SEC and second in the nation in scoring defense, allowing only 8.2 points per game. They're also first in the SEC and in the nation in total defense, allowing only 211.6 yards per game. Oh, and they're strong against the pass.
With a struggling running game and a gimpy QB, this could turn ugly for the Vols.
- Be sure to check out LSU blog And the Valley Shook, which, of course, has a bunch of Tennessee-related stuff this week. We'll be posting a reciprocal Q&A with them tomorrow or Friday.
- I'm sure you've heard about the crazy cajuns that are LSU fans. Well, Tiger Smack has a sneak peek at what these guys are all about. We'll be talking to them tomorrow or Friday as well.
All for now.
