Smith to join Smith and Smith on the hardwood -- this year

Get used to calling Tennessee's basketball players by their first names. Tyler Smith will be eligible sooner rather than later:

Brad Bertani, Associate Athletics Director for Compliance for the University of Tennessee, announced today he has been notified by the NCAA that the Administrative Review Subcommittee waiver submitted on Tyler Smith's behalf has been granted.

This means that Smith, a former Giles County High standout, will be eligible to compete immediately for Tennessee beginning with the fall 2007 semester and will have three years of eligibility remaining.

Smith will join current players JaJuan Smith and Ramar Smith on the court this fall, adding to the depth that really makes Bruce Pearl's system go.

Oh, and J.P. Prince will be eligible beginning the second semester, which, if I remember correctly is about the time that SEC Conference play begins.

Maybe the countdown timer should be headed toward tip off rather than kick off?
