Ignore all that office chatter about Bridget Moynahan's and Tom Brady's brand spanking new baby boy. Talk about stuff that's really important:

Coasting! We're going to be coasting through tomorrow and this weekend, getting our legs back so that we can really start the season right on Monday. I'll be tweaking the appearance of the site and trying to get some semblance of a game week schedule together rather than posting very much. Remember, the Magic Google Column is your friend.

Games! There's still time to sign up for the Rocky Top Talk College Pick 'Em game. We're up to 16 players right now.

Sounding good, looking bad? Dovetailing nicely with yesterday's post Three Yards and a Cloud of Dust Goes Up in Smoke, the quotes out of camp appear to indicate that Tennessee's rushing game should be vastly improved this year. But can it, if the passing game stinks? And while Ainge in Orange's comments are comforting, the picture of him with his hat on backwards is troubling in light of the fact that one of the first things coach Cut told him when he returned to campus last year was to lose the earring and turn the hat around. What do you think? Is this an indication of slippage?

Time Capsule! One year ago today, CBS Sportsline's Dennis Dodd said that the "cannibalistic" SEC has "absolutely no shot at winning the national championship." Oops.
-
Controversy! Jon at Fulmer's Belly completes his series on the SEC coaches most likely to say something incendiary. It might surprise you to learn that Steve Spurrier is only fourth.
-
Playbook! Loser with Socks has uncovered the Tennessee Volunteer playbook for wide receivers. Funny stuff.
-
Heartbreak, intrigue! Doug, over at Hey Jenny Slater, has his Tennessee preview up, including an historical recap from yours truly of the heartbreak that's resulted from the last handful of meetings between the Vols and the Bulldogs.
-
Power! We'll be participating in the SEC Power Poll this season, spearheaded by Brandon over at South Carolina blog Cock & Fire.
-
Depth chart! GVX's Drew Edwards takes a stab at identifying the Vols' two-deep chart for the Cal game. It's looking like Arian Foster and Lucas Taylor will be returning kicks.
Time's up. Gear up for Monday, y'all. |
