Today's uh-oh stat
Premise No. 1: Southern Miss' Damion Fletcher is very good. He rushed for 89 yards against eventual national champion Florida last year. I shouldn't have to remind Tennessee fans that our running backs had negative yardage against the Gators last year.Premise No. 2: We have not yet shown that we can stop the run. Last weekend against Cal, defensive linemen J.T. Mapu, Walter Fisher, and Xavier Mitchell each had one tackle. To put that into perspective, kickers Daniel Lincoln and Chad Cunningham also each had one.
Conclusion: If we don't do a better job of stopping the run this week, we will be carrion for Damion Fletcher and the Golden Eagles.
I'll be heading down to Knoxville for the game in just a few minutes, so someone else will have to drive the comment section. I might be able yell some stuff from the back seat by phone, but who knows.
