I know what you did last week: a look at the Tennessee Volunteers' upcoming opponents

A quick recap of what all of the Vols' future opponents did last week, with animated drive charts.

Georgia

  • Bye. And yeah, yikes.

Mississippi State

  • Bye.

Alabama v. Kentucky

  • The Crimson Tide hosted the Wildcats and escaped with a 17-14 victory.
  • 'Bama running back Glen Coffee had 218 yards, including a 78-yard TD.
  • Hmm. Early leads. Alabama led 14-0 in the first quarter. They didn't score again until Leigh Tiffin hit a field goal to extend the lead 17-7 with 2:12 left in the game.
  • 'Bama rushed for 282 yards and held Kentucky to 35.
  • Kentucky made a game of it late, cutting the lead to three with 40 seconds left, but the onside kick attempt went out of bounds.

South Carolina

  • Beat Ole Miss on the road, 31-24.
  • Spurrier started QB Chris Smelley over Stephen Garcia, and Smelley went 22-31 for a career-high 327 yards with three TDs and one INT.
  • WR Jason Barnes had two receiving TDs and 76 yards.
  • RB Mike Davis had 73 yards rushing.
  • South Carolina's defense made the most of Ole Miss miscues, returning one fumble for a TD (Nathan Peppers) and forcing another one in the third quarter.
  • The Gamecocks had the best defense in the nation going into the game, but the Rebels did some damage to that mark before halftime.

Wyoming

  • Lost to New Mexico on the road, 0-24.
  • ESPN thought so much of this game that they didn't even bother to recap it.
  • The Cowboys' QB did get 9-19 for 71 yards, and they did rush for a total of 130 yards, so, you know.
  • They gave up 317 yards on the ground.

Vanderbilt

  • Beat Auburn 14-13 at home with the world watching.
  • The 'Dores fell behind 13-0 in a single sixty second span in the first quarter, but clamped it down for the other 59 minutes.
  • Back up QB Mackenzie Adams (sounds like he was destined for Vanderbilt, huh?) entered the game when Chris Nickson left with an injured right shoulder. Adams went 13-23 for 153 yards and two TDs, one each to Justin Wheeler and Brandon Barden.
  • Clutch, too. Ahead by one point late in the game, Vanderbilt's punter booted one 55 yards and put it at the three yard line. On the next play, Myron Lewis intercepted Auburn's pass attempt to seal the game.
  • Auburn managed just four yards rushing in the second half.
