There is no way that I get to all of the news this morning, so we just have an abbreviated version of the Talking Points:
-
Lotso drama for National Signing Day. The best news of the day was WR Nu'Keese Richardson blowing off Florida for Tennessee. The worst news of the day was Memphis WR Marlon Brown blowing us off for Georgia. As someone said in the open thread, best of luck Marlon, we wish you well, and we hope you lose to Tennessee every year. By the way, that made Tennessee 5-6 Inside the Fence.
- In all, Tennessee landed eighteen signees, good enough for 23rd in the Rivals rankings and 22nd in the Scout rankings. Auburn, which was in the same position as Tennessee (being behind due to a late coaching change), was 15th and 18th. If the Kiffin Recruiting Chimera did anything wrong over the past few months, it was not hiring Trooper Taylor. Still, Tennessee was selective and successful and although there were some inevitable disappointments along the way, there were some fantastic surprises. Shoot, Lawvol even worked a "woo" into his deposition. By the way, Lawvol also has his second installment of the Cost of Sports up and sets forth in nice, bold bullets for us some of the better points Lane Kiffin made in his post-NSD press conference.
-
The basketball Vols won a squeaker against Arkansas last night. Woo but not pig sooie.
- Pat Summitt goes for 1,000 tonight at Thompson-Boling. Hooper is hoping to meet up with some RTT community folks, and I'll be here manning the open thread.
- Beware Houston Nutt. He's signing anything that moves.
