Today and tomorrow we're going to roll out the candidates for the Best Plays of 2008. Yes, we were able to identify some good plays. Yes, most of them involve Eric Berry. No, that's not going to stop us from distracting ourselves from the long summer for two weeks by looking at the bright side of a very dim hour in Tennessee football history.
Folks that have been part of the RTT community for awhile will recall that the Best Plays of 2007 and the Best Plays of 2006 were both done brackety-ish style. This year, we're mixing things up a bit and going American Idol-ish style. Instead of choosing two from a group of 16, pitting them against each other, and having the winner advance to take on another challenger until only one remains, we're going to put 15 out there all at once and eliminate one from the entire group each day until only one remains.
It will be different from American Idol, though, in that instead of everyone voting for their favorite and us eliminating the one with the fewest votes, we'll be asking everyone to vote for the one they would eliminate.
The first candidate goes live today at 10:00 EST, and seven more will follow each hour on the hour until 5:00 EST. The remaining seven will go live each hour beginning at 9:00 EST tomorrow.
We'll start voting Thursday. Each morning, I'll post links to each play remaining along with a poll so y'all can vote for the one you would eliminate. Voting will remain open through 6:00 a.m. the next morning, and then we'll do it all over again with those that remain each day -- including weekends -- until Thursday, June 11, when the Best Play of 2008 will be crowned.
