A name long rumored to join the fray in Knoxville this season, Mt. SAC (California) JUCO quarterback Nick Lamaison is officially on his way to Knoxville to join the team for fall camp, according to Mt. SAC's official release. There's been a flurry of QB news in the last week, with Chase Rettig committing to Boston College, Lane Kiffin suggesting that Jonathan Crompton and Nick Stephens will share snaps in fall camp to help determine the '09 starter, and the coveted Jesse Scroggins set to make his decision between the Vols, USC and Florida on July 25.
Lamaison is no sure thing, but lit up the JUCO ranks with great precision - 3,400 yards, 36 TDs to 8 INTs in leading Mt. SAC to a title - and might make things more interesting for Crompton and Stephens. At the very least, he provides more depth to a unit struggling to find scholarship players this year and next. At the very best...well, perhaps we'll find out what his very best is in about three weeks.
Still waiting for official word on Lamaison's arrival from the Knoxville side of the equation...
