Josh Tabb suspended indefinitely for undisclosed violation

The Knoxville News-Sentinel is reporting that senior guard Josh Tabb has been placed on indefinite suspension by Bruce Pearl, and that suspension will prohibit Tabb from participating in both official and voluntary team activities:

"Josh has been in the program long enough that he knows he needs to meet all of our expectations,’’ Pearl said following Friday’s practice

Tabb has been a contributor for the Vols throughout his career, most notably as a defensive stopper, and his role in Tennessee's 09-10 gameplan is uncertain with the addition of Melvin Goins and the continued maturation of Scotty Hopson.

Throughout his tenure in Knoxville that prepares to enter its fifth year, Pearl has never been afraid to drop the hammer on players who weren't doing something the way he believed it should be done - the names Major Wingate, Duke Crews and Ramar Smith instantly come to mind.  And especially in the case of Wingate, Pearl hasn't been afraid to discipline or dismiss his players even when they were expected to make significant contributions.

Hopefully Tabb can work his way back into Pearl's good graces, but the head coach has again made it clear that he has no tolerance for violations of his or the university's policies.
