John Propst has signed with the Vols!

Note from Will:  reported via Josh Ward's twitter

One of the latest additions to the 2010 recruiting class, John Propst came in during Tennessee's final visiting weekend and changed his commitment from West Virginia to UT.  And today, that change of commitment is now finalized with his letter of intent sitting in Tennessee's football office.

Propst is a middle linebacker out of Hoover, Alabama who fills a void in the recruiting class left by Taylor's departure.  With a 3.88 GPA and a 27 ACT, there is little doubt about his ability to keep academically eligible.  His primary focus will be on strength and conditioning, which is not unusual for a high school player at one of the harder-hitting positions on the field.  But his smarts should really help him pick up the new system and adapt to the program quickly, and Propst may find the field faster than most people expect.

Having Lance Thompson stick around was the key to his recruitment.  I have no doubt that the work that Lance did at Alabama, as well as his ability to cobble together a linebacking corps for Tennessee out of the infirmary convinced Propst that the potential for this growth at UT was very significant.  This has the makings of a wonderful college career.
