Da'Rick Rogers is a Volunteer!

[Note by Joel, 02/03/10 9:59 AM EST ] Via VolQuest, Da'Rick Rogers is indeed a Vol.

Da'Rick is a special signee for the Vols for two reasons: he's an absolutely terrific receiver, and he was Dooley's finest steal from another school's class - Georgia's.

The first thing that pops out about him is that, despite being 6'-3", he is rather well built for a receiver.  He's not just arms and legs; the kid has some real power and strength in his body.  Because of his strength, he's the Rivals #2 receiver nationally and can physically match up with college defenders today.  He'll need to refine technique, as his athleticism has allowed him to punish defenses by brute force, but there's absolutely no reason to think that won't happen.

The signing of Rogers wasn't even possible under the old coaching regime and nearly didn't happen under Dooley.  But the new tenor of the program and the addition of Nash Nance seemed to be enough to pull Rogers away from the Dawgs.  This is a serious coup for Dooley - one we can be proud of.
