Hey, more basketball!
The 24 best high school basketball players in the nation are in action tonight in the McDonald's All-American Game, live from Columbus, OH on ESPN (and 360) at 8:00 PM EDT.
For the Vols, Tennessee signee Tobias Harris - currently rated as the fifth best player in the nation by Rivals - will be featured on the East team. So will Josh Selby, who's one spot ahead of Harris in those rankings and who continues to leave several schools, including the Vols, in suspense before announcing his college choice later this month.
If you're watching tonight, we'll use this post as a live thread...and you'll also want to keep an eye on the following players:
- G Joe Jackson, from White Station High School, who will play for hometown Memphis
- G/F Jelan Kendrick, another future Tiger High player
- F Jayaughn Pinkston, who considered the Vols before signing with Villanova
- F/C Patric Young from Jacksonville, who will play for Florida (on the West team tonight)
Several of tonight's players are undecided...but with word swirling around practice that five Kentucky players are headed for the NBA Draft, leave no doubt that Kentucky will be involved with several of these guys as well.
You don't ever want to make too much of these high school all-star games...but hopefully Tobias will show us something good tonight. You can also check out the men's and women's Three Point and Slam Dunk Contests (which were actually held Monday - future Lady Vol Meighan Simmons is also featured) at 7:00 PM. We won't spoil the outcome if you haven't heard already, but check out Tobias and Selby practicing:
