As Will mentioned on The Sports Animal last week (you're still listening to that, right?), we've been working diligently on the 2010 edition of the Rocky Top Tennessee Maple Street Press annual. You can preorder the thing direct from MSP right now or wait to get it off the shelves mid-July sometime. Seriously folks, the other preview magazines come out first, but they either have only a handful of pages on Tennessee or they're half full of ads. The Maple Street Press annual is 128 pages of nothing but the Tennessee Volunteers and is so comprehensive that you'll need to look both on the magazine racks and the bookshelves when you go to the bookstore because they can't decide where it belongs. So go ahead and scratch the itch when the others come out, but be sure to save enough money and time for when Rocky Top Tennessee 2010 comes out mid-July.
We're still about two weeks away from the final deadline when the thing goes to press, and we don't yet have everything completely finalized, but just as a quick sneak peak:
- Authors this year include Wes Rucker, Josh Ward, Will West, Tom Mattingly (GVX's "The Vol Historian"), Holly Anderson, Brian Cook, cocknfire, Year2, Todd Jones, DrB, Matt Fisher, Doug Gillett, Bud Elliott, and Will, Hooper, and myself. And perhaps one more.
- In addition to all of the regular stuff, we'll have player features, an explanation of Justin Wilcox's "multiple 40" defense, a hilarious treatment of the people Vol fans find most loathsome and, as they say, much, much more.
So it'll be worth waiting for, and we can't wait until it hits the shelves and we can start talking about it in detail with all y'all. Preorder it now or look for it on the bookshelves and magazine racks beginning in mid-July.
