DE Malik Jackson transfers from USC to Tennessee

(insert Lane Kiffin joke here)

Tennessee's thin roster got some help tonight, as Southern Cal defensive end Malik Jackson will transfer to Knoxville to play the final two years of his career, as first reported by Bruce Feldman.  As a sophomore last year, Jackson had 18 tackles, 3.5 sacks and a forced fumble, playing in all 13 games.  Thanks to USC's probation, Jackson is eligible immediately.

Jackson is 6'5", 245 lbs from Northridge, CA.  The Vols are deep at defensive end this year, but the three best players - Chris Walker, Ben Martin, and Gerald Williams - are all seniors.  So worst case scenario, even if he doesn't get many chances to contribute right away, he helps fill a big need for 2011.  And in any scenario, our pass rush will take another 3.5 sacks in a heartbeat.

When Kiffin says something smart or Dooley says anything at all, we'll have it here.
