Curt Maggitt signs with Tennessee

A late pickup for Derek Dooley's 2011 class, DE/LB Curt Maggitt is twice as nice in Tennessee orange, as the West Palm Beach native spurned the Florida Gators to come to Knoxville.  It's an early win for Derek Dooley in his first recruiting battle with Will Muschamp; Muschamp got off to a late start, and hasn't found the sort of late success that Derek Dooley had on his limited timetable last season.

Maggitt (pronounced Ma-JITT, so hold your jokes) is rated as the #12 outside linebacker and the #9 weakside defensive end by Rivals.  Currently listed between 195-210 pounds depending on who you read, Maggitt should get an early look at OLB in the Justin Wilcox defense, and could eventually see time on the defensive line if he bulks up.  The Vols will have plenty of opportunity at both positions, with seniors expected to start at DE and OLB in Knoxville this fall.

He becomes the 12th four-star player in Tennessee's 2011th class, and as a Top 100 player nationally should give the Vols a shot at finishing in the Top 10 this year.
