SEC Softball Championship Open Thread - #7 Tennessee vs. #8 Georgia

UPDATE:  The Lady Vols fell behind 4-0 after one inning, rallied to tie it at 5-5, then won on an extra inning walk-off home run to take the SEC Tournament Championship.  Boom.

The Lady Vols are looking for their second SEC Softball Tournament championship, and will have to go through Georgia to get there.  The Dawgs knocked off top seeded Alabama in the semifinals (note the depth of SEC softball:  Georgia is ranked eighth in the nation and is the five seed in the SEC Tournament, the Lady Vols the three seed) and today's game will break a 27-27 series tie between the two programs.  Read more at the official site for UT Softball.

The Lady Vols beat Georgia in both regular season meetings on an April 6 double-header, 5-1 and 9-4.  The SEC Tournament leads into the NCAA Tournament, where both programs will look to advance to the WCWS in Oklahoma City.  The Lady Vols beat Georgia in the second round of last year's double-elimination WCWS before both were ultimately eliminated in the semifinals.

The SEC Tournament is single elimination, so tonight is it.  Georgia and Tennessee are among the SEC's best in all-sports excellence, and it's always fun to go against the Dawgs in any capacity.  Game starts tonight at 8:00 PM EDT and is on ESPN and ESPN3.  Join us here if you're following along - it's nice to have a little live thread here and there during the offseason.
