The Lady Vols are looking for their second SEC Softball Tournament championship, and will have to go through Georgia to get there. The Dawgs knocked off top seeded Alabama in the semifinals (note the depth of SEC softball: Georgia is ranked eighth in the nation and is the five seed in the SEC Tournament, the Lady Vols the three seed) and today's game will break a 27-27 series tie between the two programs. The Lady Vols beat Georgia in both regular season meetings on an April 6 double-header, 5-1 and 9-4. The SEC Tournament leads into the NCAA Tournament, where both programs will look to advance to the WCWS in Oklahoma City. The Lady Vols beat Georgia in the second round of last year's double-elimination WCWS before both were ultimately eliminated in the semifinals.
The SEC Tournament is single elimination, so tonight is it. Georgia and Tennessee are among the SEC's best in all-sports excellence, and it's always fun to go against the Dawgs in any capacity.
