Women's College World Series Open Thread

GAME 1 - Tennessee vs Alabama - Thursday 7:00 PM ET - ESPN2 - Alabama wins 5-3

GAME 2 - Tennessee vs Oregon - Saturday 2:30 PM ET - ESPN2

The Lady Vols are in their fifth Women's College World Series since 2005, and begin their quest for their first title tonight at 7:00 PM ET. And if that's not enough incentive for you, the opponent will take care of the rest: the WCWS doesn't re-seed the field once we get to Oklahoma City, so that means 7-seed Tennessee is taking on 2-seed Alabama tonight. Tennessee and Alabama split a double-header way back on March 21 in Tuscaloosa, their only two meetings this season.

Joining Tennessee and Alabama in their half of the bracket are 3-seed Arizona State and 11-seed Oregon, who will play after UT and Bama tonight. One of those four teams will advance to the championship series starting on Monday. The other half of the bracket includes 1-seed California, who is facing LSU right now, and 4-seed Oklahoma, who beat South Florida earlier today. It's double elimination with each half of the bracket playing like a regional.

If the Lady Vols win tonight, they'll play the winner of ASU-Oregon tomorrow night at 9:30 PM ET. Should they lose to Alabama, the Lady Vols will face the loser of ASU-Oregon in an elimination game Saturday at 2:30 PM ET.

But tonight's action starts at 7:00 PM on ESPN2/3. If you're following along with the Ladies this weekend, comment with us here - we'll try to keep this thread bumped to the top of the page during each game.
