The New Rocky Top Talk Launch is Imminent

New, comments
Jim Brown-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

A few weeks ago, we gave you a sneak peek at a small part of SB Nation United by unveiling the new Rocky Top Talk logo that will be associated with the new-look site. Currently, we're scheduled to slip the switch to SBN United tonight while you're sleeping, so don't be completed freaked out when you log in tomorrow and see something shiny and new. As part of the deal, I've negotiated a new hipster hairdo for Will, a new dye job and the slimmest waistline the market has to offer for me, and teeth so white for Brad, Chris, I_S, and Joe that you'll have to wear shades to talk to them. That's what I asked for anyway.

Seriously, though, here's what you can expect from SBN United:

  • Our sites will load faster and run better meaning you can get to the content you want quicker.
  • SBNU is going to make sure that you're seeing the best and brightest content up front with our flexible layout, modern design, and reduction of clutter.
  • It's going to make the experience on our sites run seamlessly from every platform, whether mobile, tablet or computer. No matter where you are, the experience will not change, and
  • It will not eliminate or change any of the community elements you love like FanPosts and FanShots and GameThreads.

There will be an adjustment, no doubt. But we're Tennessee fans, and hey, we've got change down. We at RTT are all very excited to see what all we can do for you with all of the new tools at our disposal.

After the jump, we have some screenshots (of other sites), so have a look. We'll see you with our new makeovers in the morning.

One of the biggest changes on the visual front is the new "cover." It's like a magazine cover, and we can move stuff around and change the layout depending on what's happening.

So there's a Five:

A Trips:

And another Trips:

Oh, and each site now gets Storystreams, too, which is a device used to turn a developing story into its own little mini-blog, keeping all of the updates bunched together and presented in reverse chronological order all with handy litle time stamps and everything.

Here's the new FanShot page:

And here are some mobile screenshots:

So with all of that, here's basically what the front page might look like, except in lovely Tennessee orange and with Big Orange angst about the upcoming Red October:
