[UPDATE Jan. 29, 10 a.m. Rocky Top Talk was reacting quickly to a report that Kondolo had committed to Tennessee on Monday night. If that actually happened, the Kondolo family has yet to make it public, and the original report has not yet been confirmed. Therefore, Kondolo isn't currently considered a UT commit by Rocky Top Talk. These things happen, obviously (it's recruiting, after all ...) but we're sorry for jumping the gun]
With five of Tennessee's top six offensive linemen expected to leave after this season, the Vols have a huge need in the trenches, and Butch Jones has enlisted some JUCO help to assuage it. Chongo Kondolo, a tackle from Fresno City College in California has committed to Tennessee. Kondolo is a 3* prospect according to all four major sites who chose Tennessee over Nebraska and Utah State. However, his stock seems to be on the rise, as he's garnered recent offers from Arkansas and Florida State.
Kondolo is listed at 6'4", 290 and is expected to play somewhere on the interior of the line, leaving Tennessee still searching for tackle prospects in preparation for what may be Antonio Richardson's and will be and Ja'Wuan James' last year in Knoxville. Kondolo has three years to play two, so the coaches will have the option of redshirting him if they so choose.
Welcome to Big Orange Country, Chongo! And I earnestly hope you catch Cherun- for my favorite 'dolo.
