South Carolina Gamecocks vs. Arkansas Razorbacks statistical game preview and prediction

The Vols are off this week, so we put the statsy preview through a preliminary test on the next opponent, South Carolina, instead.

With Tennessee having a much-deserved week off, there is no statsy preview today. Instead, we'll try to get a bead on the next opponent to see the degree to which next week's statsy preview can be relied on. Here's the head-to-head machine for this week's game between the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Arkansas Razorbacks. Caveats, people.

Arkansas' rushing defense and rushing offense is the best that South Carolina will have faced all season. The Hogs' passing defense and passing offense is the worst it will have faced all season. All of that works out to the two teams being fairly even in yards for the game.

But South Carolina is better at turning those yards into all-important points, so the prediction is South Carolina 31, Arkansas 21, which doesn't sound too bad until you account for the current line, which has the Gamecocks as only a six-point favorite. The over/under is 51, though, so that's about right.
