The usual statistical rankings compilation for this post-Alabama week is below. This week, I've added the same table from this time last year for the sake of week-by-week comparisons of this year and 2013. The week after Alabama is most often the low point of the season for these rankings for the Vols.
While there are more categories in the Top 30 table this year than last (not even including the new categories), there are also more in the Below 90 table, primarily due to those stats relying mostly on the offensive line. What other interesting things do you see?
What Tennessee is doing well
This week there were no new arrivals into the Top 30, and Alabama's offense did some damage to our defense and caused the Vols to fall out of the Top 30 in three defensive categories. Total Defense, Scoring Defense, and First Downs Defense all departed into the Big, Fat Middle. Third Down Conversion Pct Defense also took a huge hit, falling from #8 to #25. Hey, Bama scored 59 against A&M last week. It needs to be better, but it could have been worse.
The same table from this time last year is immediately below this year's table.

Where Tennessee needs major improvement
Turnovers Lost was the only new arrival to the doghouse this week. Two offensive categories -- 3rd Down Conversion Pct and First Downs Offense -- climbed out of the pit. I was a bit surprised to be reminded by the 2013 table that offense (more specifically, the passing game) was the main culprit this time last year, too.
