How our community is feeling in this week's biggest games

Jamie Rhodes-USA TODAY Sports

First place last week went to boro wvvol at 18-2, barely winning the tiebreaker at 200 confidence points over Davys Picks.

1 boro wvvol 18-2 200
1 Davys Picks 16-4 200
3 Pacific Tide 18-2 199
3 Vandys Win Total 17-3 199
5 DinnerJacket 18-2 198
5 BlackandYella 18-2 198
7 BShell12 17-3 197
7 Air Force Vol in Texas 17-3 197
9 Picksoritdidnthappen 19-1 196
9 memphispete 18-2 196
9 Displaced_Vol_Fan 16-4 196
9 BZACHARY 16-4 196

We now have a tie for first place overall (full standings here) between OriginalVol1814 and VolFanatETSU; the Top 5 are all within eight points of the lead as we move to double digit weeks.  The season Top 10:

We've separated out the Tennessee picks each week to show you the roller coaster ride of 2014 to date:

OPPONENT % PICKED UT TO WIN AVG PTS ON FAVORITE
Utah State 94.3 7
Arkansas State 100 17
at Oklahoma 14.4 12
at Georgia 30.6 9
Florida 83.1 9
Chattanooga 98.6 18
at Ole Miss 16.6 14
Alabama 10.2 14
at South Carolina 55.1 4

So the majority (thru Thursday evening) have swung back in favor of Tennessee, just barely, though the Vols are getting only 4 (of 20) confidence points on average.  Last week represented the low point of the season both for those picking against the Vols and the confidence with which they were doing so (tied with Ole Miss with 14 points on average going against the Vols each of the last two weeks).  We'll see what all that's worth on Saturday night.

Here's how our community is feeling in this week's biggest games - if you're watching FSU/UofL tonight, feel free to follow along in the comments:

  • Tonight 80% are going with the Seminoles on the road at Louisville; the Cards are only 5.5 point underdogs against the undefeated defending champs.
  • Georgia is getting 100% of the vote in the Cocktail Party and a whopping 17 confidence points on average.
  • 85.4% believe in TCU at West Virginia, while just 60.4% take Arizona at UCLA.
  • This week's closest call, to no surprise:  53.1% take Ole Miss at home over Auburn.  The Vols, as mentioned, are getting 55.1% at South Carolina.  Missouri/Kentucky is right behind them, with 58.3% taking the Tigers to hold serve.
