Adding to the growing list of players recruited by new Tennessee basketball coach Donnie Tyndall, the latest member of the team is guard Ian Chiles, formerly of IUPUI. Similar to Eric McKnight transferring from FGCU, Chiles is available to play immediately upon joining the team due to the graduate transfer rule and will be wearing the orange and white for the final season of his career.
At IUPUI, the 6'1 guard averaged 15.8 points per game last season on 42% shooting, grabbed 3.2 rebounds per game, and added 1.8 assists. From the free throw line, Chiles made about 67% of his attempts and also was 31% from three-point range. Chiles had also been considering Maryland.
Chiles should add instant depth and experience to a team looking to recreate the magic that saw them finish their season in the Sweet 16. The Volunteers have four players in its incoming recruiting class, including four-star guard Detrick Mostella, and are looking toward the future under Coach Tyndall's watch.
