Sleep Is the Cousin of Death

Dave Lawson and the rest of the Tennessee football training staff took the team to Neyland Stadium for a series of late night workouts called the Midnight Grind (full gallery found here). The national press may be pessimistic on next season's outlook, but Butch Jones is doing everything he can to win as soon as possible. He knows how demanding Tennessee fans are.

Recruiting Update

SBNation Recruiting Director Bud Elliot has a scouting report on five star wide receiver Preston Williams, the Vols top rated commitment in the 2015 class.

Kahlil McKenzie's recruiting announcement is coming up on July 10th. He'll be attending premiere recruiting event The Opening at Nike Headquarters in Oregon this coming week, where he'll be paired with Vols linebacker commit Cecil Cherry and Vols quarterback/athlete target Torrance Gibson on Team Alpha. Video courtesy of Student Sports.

McKenzie's recruitment has taken a turn for the sour grapes recently, with Arizona on-campus recruiting director Matt Dudek tweeting and then deleting an insulting comparison of Arizona head coach Rich Rodriguez and former Rodriguez assistant coach and Vol favorite Butch Jones.

Four star athlete and Vols target Jerome Baker will be announcing his commitment on Wednesday (via Land Grant Holy Land). Baker is an excellent athlete who plays running back, linebacker, and safety, but Tennessee is expected to finish as the runner-up for him to in-state Ohio State.

Team #118 Update

Pig Howard has been busy meeting the (unspecified) requirements to return to the Tennessee football team, and expects to be on the team in the fall.

The same article also talks with Vols football great Jason Witten about his NFL football career.

JUCO linebacker/defensive end Chris Weatherd is in Knoxville, but so far the University has remained quiet on whether or not he's academically qualified. Weatherd has already pushed back his arrival on campus twice (from the beginning of the first summer term and from the beginning of the second summer term), so it's looking like he may not make it in.
