Tennessee SEC Media Days Open Thread

Butch Jones takes the podium Tuesday afternoon.

It's Tennessee's turn at SEC Media Days this afternoon; the Vols share the 2:00-5:00 PM slot with Kevin Sumlin and Texas A&M.  You can watch the whole thing on ESPNU or stream online through ESPN3.  There was some speculation as to who Butch Jones would bring with him other than A.J. Johnsonespecially with only eleven seniors on the roster.  Jones elected not to bring Justin Worley, perhaps further emphasizing the quarterback competition, and will instead be joined by juniors Curt Maggitt and Mack Crowder next to the senior Johnson.  There's an old saying about always wanting your leaders to be offensive linemen, so if Crowder can help fill the void up front in more ways than one the Vols will be far better off.

Butch isn't necessarily one to drop bombs at the podium, but you can expect lots of questions about freshmen, quarterbacks, and the rebuilding process.  I will be interested to hear Maggitt's answers to questions about playing defensive end.

With Steve Spurrier (and Dan Mullen) on the mic this morning, there may certainly be more excitement this morning.  But more than anything, SEC Media Days is a warning shot as the season approaches and the countdown moves south of 50 days.  Fall camp moves within reach.  The season is getting very close.

This is your open thread for the day's conversation as football season approaches.  And even if Butch doesn't break news from the podium, you can expect him to speak with purpose...especially on the following topics:
