Vols offensive lineman Jacob Gilliam out for the season with a torn ACL

Butch Jones just announced that redshirt senior offensive lineman Jacob Gilliam is out for the remainder of the season with a torn ACL. Gilliam, who just earned a scholarship in May, got his first career-start this past Sunday against Utah State.

This is really bad news for the team, which has an all new and shallow offensive line that struggled in the opener. And the news is downright tragic for Gilliam, a local kid from Farragut who worked hard for five years to finally earn and scholarship and a start this year only to see it all go up in smoke in his first game. Best of luck to Gilliam and to the guys who will need to step up in his place.
