Seven Saturdays into the season, and this is by far the best one for the Vols to be off. Not only do we get to enjoy Georgia and rest up before Alabama for an extra week, you get to feast your eyes on the following:
- The noon slate obliterates all other noon slates this year. #13 Ole Miss is at the Liberty Bowl and #17 Iowa is at #20 Northwestern on an ABC/ESPN2 split. Undefeated Florida State and undefeated Baylor could get tests from Louisville (ESPN) and West Virginia (Fox) respectively.
- At 3:30, #7 Michigan State is at #12 Michigan on ESPN, and the #10 Crimson Tide are at #9 Texas A&M on CBS in what should be a pair of playoff elimination games. An Alabama win is the best possible outcome for Tennessee across the board, both in terms of the mood I'd like to see these guys in next week and any potential tiebreaker scenarios in the SEC East.
- And if that's going to matter, we need #6 LSU to hold serve at home over #8 Florida tonight at 7:00 PM on ESPN. If the Gators somehow find a way to win this one on the road with Treon Harris, we're going to start needing all kinds of truly crazy things to happen to get back in the SEC East race. But should the Gators falter tonight, the door can swing open a little further.
Today's full schedule is below - as always, this is your open thread as you're watching along live.
