Tennessee Football Top 25 Plays of 2015 #8: What Should Have Been

Counting down the season's biggest plays.

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

So today's video will probably be a bit upsetting, and for that I apologize.  However, in the moment this was definitely one of the season's biggest plays.

It's also one of the more noteworthy and interesting calls.  Leading Florida 20-14 with 10:25 to play and facing 3rd and goal at the 9, this looks every bit like a run it into the line and take the three and the two possession lead call.  Except this one works like a charm:

So you also get the picture of Butch Jones, who looks like he's trying to decide whether to go for one or two.  You know how that ultimately ended.  But in the moment, Jalen Hurd's effort gave Tennessee a 27-14 lead over the Gators with 10 minutes to play.  And this drive should have become the stuff of legend:  16 plays, 70 yards, the first 12 runs.  Tennessee smash-mouthed Florida's defense in a drive that should have put it away.  Instead, the Gators responded with a 17 play 86 yard drive that included two fourth down conversions, and you know what happened from there.  What a crazy game this was.  And this play serves as a reminder, past and future, of what Tennessee could have done and can do.
