Vol Baseball hosts ETSU and Morehead State

Tennessee baseball wrapped up its first series victory of the season this past weekend and looks to continue that success this week as SEC play begins. Before traveling to Gainesville to take on Florida the Vols will host East Tennessee State and Morehead State, assuming the weather cooperates (which isn't looking likely). The Morehead State game was rained out last Wednesday.

Tennessee is 58-16 against ETSU all-time, however things haven't been pretty lately. ETSU has won seven of the last ten meetings dating back to 2008, including both games last season. ETSU is on a four game losing streak, losing a road game at UNC-Asheville and a home series against West Virginia.

As was mentioned in last week's midweek post, Tennessee leads the Morehead State series 32-2 all-time, and defeated them last May in a close 14-13 game in 12 innings. That win was the longest game in program history, just shy of five hours.  The Eagles won two of three against Tennessee Tech this past weekend.

Tennessee's starting pitching this past weekend was outstanding, with Bret Marks, Drake Owenby, and Kyle Serrano combining to throw 20 2/3 innings where they struck out 21 and gave up only 10 hits, 6 walks, and 2 runs (only 1 earned).
